Older audio equipment, can't find information.

I am trying to find information on a set of headphones and a tuner/amplifier and I can't find anything. Specifically I am trying to find technical specifications, approximate value and and reviews if possible. I have tried google and other search engines and cannot come up with anything useful. I know PCMech is computer oriented but I know there are a few audio experts here. Any pointers to dedicated audio forums with related material would be appreciated.

The equipment I am hunting information on is
Sony DR-11 headphones
Sansui Integrated Tuner Amplifier TA-30

Any help would do, thanks.

-You could try the following forums

I am familiar with Sansui but have not heard of that particular model. Do you know what year they were made in?

Great stuff BigDog19, I will search there as well.

I have found various forums and the best info on the reciever is that it was made between 1970-85 and that it looks like a combination of TU and AU series combined, 417 or 517 series.
I have attached what it looks like

The one I was looking at was at a local GoodWill store, it was the TA-300 with those front handle/rack mounts, looked in mint condition. $30 dollars, and it was gone before I could go back to get it, teaches me for trying to find about something before purchasing.

Now the headphones on the other hand are working great for $7, mint condition and sounds fantastic. Still have not found any info on them though.

It is usually hard to find information on headphones period.

The receiver looks like its directly from the late 70's. I can tell from the attached receiver on the back. I have one similar to the TA-300 in my basement. I believe it is made by Panasonic. Its very old but sounds great!

Good luck with your search.

I doubt you'll find anything on the reciever. Sansui has been bought and sold three times since the mid 1980's. They are a publicly traded company and have been since around 1970 - their current ownership includes a private investment group and Samsung Electronics. Sansui's current ownership and management is old school Japanese - they are very reclusive about their company other than to release what they required to as a public company. Their big thing right now is LCD displays and that's about all they make.

I looked through some of my old supplier books on the Sony headphones and didn't find anything. Although Sony does offer a current model of a DR-11 - it's a portable TV/FM Radio reciever sold only in Japan. If their model numbers are correct in their headphone line, a DR-11 model would put those headphones back into the early or mid 1970's. Any headphone's Sony put out in those days should sound fantastic if the components are in good condition. Now finding current replacements for those components could be a trick, but if the headphones are in good working order $7.00 isn't bad. There was one set that sold on eBay for $7.00 back in March - so that looks like a fair price.

Dave.
