The battle wages on. Look HERE for an article detailing the plight DVD X Copy's maker faces. What do you think?

this is a tough one.
you have a product that can be used for A, which is a legimate legal activity, but it also can be used for B, which is a violation of the law and you have a legitimate company caught in the middle. you have 2 sets of rights that need to be upheld, which one do you keep safe and which one do you negate? |

I see it as no different than a firearm. It can be used for legitimate purposes, as well as non legit. I certainly do not support banning firearms, as there's always a way around that. Just as there is still a way to make illegal copies of DVD's. The company should be allowed to sell it's software, they're not responsible for the end user using the software illegally.

Even if they side with the corporations, it's only a matter of time before something else comes out like it, and it could be Open Source/GPL, nothing's stopping that from traversing the Internet and P2P.

The judge should require the DVD studios to come up with a plan that allows fair use copy since the studios thrwat such!
Pirates don't need Studio 321! |
