I've cleaned 1000+ off of a friends machine before, and within a week, he was going for it again .

the worst i've ever gotten was 104 and that was my first scan, my friend had 400 something once. I haven't heard of anything as high as 841 though. That is a lot.

Hmmm you get a lot of spyware off going to certain sites... maybe your friend.... you finish the sentence.

My old dell got somewhere in the 900-1000 range. That was after 4 years of constant internet use and no scans at all (other than virus scans)

Well, he's also a kid who has no AV either. And Spybot, Adaware, AVG, are all missing from his system everytime I go to his house. So I have to re-download and install them, etc.. But I do know what you're saying about those certain sites.

My old desktop was a killer - it showed 422 fixes (about 30 of them being reg. fixes!) and a whole bunch of them being cookies! Of course, that was when McAfee was there, which was soon therefore, replaced by NOD32.

Just did a quick check of my last few job files. May 14th I fixed an HP 854n Media Center machine that connects with dialup.

Adaware - 950
Spybot - an additonal 59
Nachi virus - 3 files found
Sasser virus - 9 files found

Mar 3 Dell Optiplex GX240, 98se on broadband, original oem AV

Installed AVG - 7275 infected files
Adware - 1148
Spybot - 27 more

The owner is an attorney. Has two teenagers in the house, a hard drive full of music files but no Kazaa or other P to P programs installed. When I returned it repaired, I asked if he had told the kids to remove Kazaa after reading of the RIAA lawsuits. Wish you could have seen his face! First he turned white, then red with embarassment. His comment, "How'd you know?" Duh!

Heh downloading music, no one does that anymore.......

kram - yea I use NOD32 also, great program, best anti-virus I have ever used.

I cant compete with these high ad-aware scores, I keep my pc pretty secure.

I've never gotten more than a few cookies removed from my machines, but last week at work I cleaned off a couple machines that both had 300+.

My highest (first time I ever ran it) was 100 or so. A close friend of mine (surfs alot of porn) comes over every few weeks and removes 500+ I have seen him hit 800 and he is still clueless.

I just cleaned my sisters Dell laptop. I found 2000+ plus well over a hundred trojans. Its two years old. It had never been cleaned. The amount of pop-up ads and just things wrong in general was ridiculous. I couldn't understand how she used the computer.

Personal highest - 172. But usually only about 30 because I scan every week or so. I have seen a few other systems cleaned though, well over 500.

The most I've ever cleaned from mine was 78, and I've never let it get that high again. The most I've ever cleaned was 1280. My girlfriend's sister's computer didn't boot after that. I had to go into safe mode and get rid of all the start up entries. After I did that, it let me boot.

I get a lot less these days, after I started using FireFox...

Most on my computer was probably 100+... Most on a friends machine was 500+...

42 in the first ad-aware 6 scan, though that was when the computer was owned by my CCU mum, ahem. But other than that, now that I own the comp, it is always squeaky clean

Never used Adaware...but I have a program called PestPatrol. It anti-trojan software and it also detects and destroys adware and spyware. So far I found 3,000 pests none being trojans thank god!.
