Skipping Songs
I have just installed a new hard drive and I have a fresh installation of Windows XP. When I play music in WMP9, once in a while it will skip ahead maybe a half a second. It is barely noticable but I notice it. It never did this before. The songs aren't corrupt because if I back up a little bit right after it happens it won't happen again at the same spot. Most of the songs are on the 6GB Fijitsu in my signature that I did not mess with. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Weird.....did it start happening after you updated WMP? Does it skip if you use like winamp or another playback software?

I am using the same version of WMP as I was before I installed the hard drive. As I said, it's barely noticable but I was just wondering why it would start all of the sudden.

I have an Audigy as well, I had the exact same problem until I went to Creative's website and got all the newest sound card drivers. I hope this is the problem, cause it's an easy fix.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I just installed the Audigy too. Thanks for the info. I'll try that.

I tried downloading new drivers but I cannot find any for the Audigy ES. I tried downloading drivers for the Audigy LS which is the retail version of my sound card but when I run the install program it says there is no Audigy LS and exits.
EDIT: I just sent an email to Creative support. I'll see what they say, if anything.

I got a reply from Creative and to say the least, I am not too happy with what they said. Basically they said that I cannot install new drivers because I have an OEM card. Even though the retail has the EXACT same hardware. I am stuck with the two year old drivers on the CD with no chance to upgrade them. That is rediculous. Just because I didn't want to pay $10 for a fancy box I am now left in the dark when it comes to driver updates.

That doesn't make sense... did they give a reason why OEM models don't get the updates??
EDIT: And if they can't give a reason, and refuse to help you out, tell them you're sending it back as you aren't satisfied with the product you've received, and that you'll be shopping elsewhere this time and the next |

Why don't you try these drivers at the KX Project website?
They work far better than any crap that Creative ever came up with.
