Help with audio

Ok here's my really weird ****ed up situation. I download some episodes of a series and was watching them without problems. Then i uninstalled mozilla and installed firefox and they stopped working because the "format was not supported". So i unistalled, reinstalled, and updated my codecs. Now the video plays fine, but the sound wont. Even further, now i noticed that i have absolutely no sound at all. No system sounds, so music (what's even more weird is when i play a song in iTunes, the song wont even actually play). I tried trouble shooting the sound. For some reason is doesnt pick up the speakers, so i tried headphones, and numerous sets of other speakers BUT NOTHING WORKS. Any help that anyone would provide with this would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you may have uninstalled your sound drivers, either on board or sound card, which do you have?

I use on board, since my Asus P4C800 doesnt allow for me to use a sound card. I was thinking it was the drivers. For some reason, the little tiny speaker on my MoBo is beeping in place of system sounds, and AOL instant messenger sounds. I tried unstilling and reinstalling the drivers though and it didnt work.

Default beeps through the system speaker instead of the sound card can also be caused by uninstalling Norton Antivirus 2002.

However, it sounds to me like your sound drivers are totally blown out. Reinstall all the Asus motherboard drivers.

A P4C800 can certainly support an addon sound card - you just have to disable the onboard sound in the bios and uninstall its drivers.
