Ulead Cool 3D

I wanted to add a 3D effect to a movie I am editing. I downloaded the fully functional trial of Ulead Cool 3D. It works fine untill I apply animation to the object. If I apply something like zoom in, explode, blast, jump, etc. and click play to see what it does the CPU usage instantly goes up to 100% and stays there for 10 minutes while the animation advances at about 1 frame per 2 minutes. This program should have no problem running on my system. I have more than the recommended specs. Does anyone have any ideas?

Very resource hungry program. Go to....

Image
Display Quality
click draft.....

The more complex you make your edit requires more complex rendering. Just remember you can render at higher quality once you get your project set up that you like.

Let me know if that helps Hi Ho...

I'd agree with VideoQuasar. Rendering effects is one of the most intensive things you can do with a computer. It doesn't matter what specs you have - a 64bit Athlon or a HT 3Gig P4 and 1Gig of RAM will respond in a similar way.

Reduce your display quality until you are ready to export your final video.

Dave.

Thanks for the replies. All I was rendering was a simple 5 letter text on a black background as a test. No video or anything fancy. It just doesn't seem like it should take so many resources. Games like Far Cry seem much more complicated than this. Anyway, I just changed it to draft and it seems to be working better though not perfect.

Hi Ho, go to Image and adjust them all to draft....also go in Dimentions there and check out the settings and find one that works best for you. Another thing to consider is the amount of frames you enter next to fps on the tool bar.

Hey VideoQuaser, you seem to have used this program before. Is there any way to animate objects other than doing it frame by frame? It would take a while for what I'm doing.

You mean like a toy soldier doing jumping jacks, no, its not an animation program like that I know of. It's better suited for titling and such. I think what you mean tho is can you move your objects around and spin them and such, YES.

If you have all your tools bars up, you will see a slider and that is your key framer. Move around your object or title and advance the slider some by clicking and then hit the plus sign. You have now set a key frame that will advance the object to that point within the amount of frames you have set up. Once again start out by experimenting with fewer frame settings until your comfortable with the operation. The more frames the slower the objects move about and such. I've done some pretty cool stuff but it is "time consuming" with both keying and render time.

I have another question. How can I make an object zoom out and then dissapear? I can't seem to make an object dissapear for the next frame without deleting it from the entire project.
