Hey all... I think its finally time for me to get a digital camera (tired of seeing my parents buy those disposable things lol) And spending $56 bucks to get film from Europe developed did it....
Umm Id like a camera with 3-5 megapixels... Umm At least a 3xOptical Zoom... Im just confused here.. Could someone tell me what is the most important feature of the camera that gives good image quality? I want zoom... But im more concerned on overall picture quality.. I just need suggestions... Id like not to excedd $450 Somewhere around $300-375 would be ideal... What do you guys think about the Cannon Powershot A80, Cannon Powershot 2410, or the HP Photosmart R707? Any suggestions are welcomed... (those cameras mentioned are all on newegg btw) thanks a lot! |

The Cannon PowerShot A80 seems to be quite good - Cannon makes some quality cameras. I also think that the Nikon Coolpix 3700 3.2MP is pretty good too - it's on rebate for 240 USD right now and it should give you pretty quality pictures. Nikon takes some beautiful pictures - trust me on that. I've owned one for a while and it's awesome.
Hope that helps, kram

Ignore digital zoom. The optical zoom is all that matters when it comes to clarity. Digital zoom just blows the picture up like any software program could do, but this reduces the picture quality greatly. Also, try to go with at least a 4MP camera if you're planning on photos larger than 4x6 in the future.

check out www.dpreview.com
they have excellent reviews and example photos and color graphs for each camera they review. Cannon make excellent digi cameras, them and sony seem to have the best picture/color quality.

) their products overall. Being 5.1 MP, that camera should probably outperform the Cannon.I don't know if it's just me, but I seem to prefer the Sony DSC-P93 5.1MP more - any reason? The Sony Quality. Hope that helps, kram |

I have always liked Panasonic, Cannon, and Nikon cameras. I never liked the Sony cameras too much for some reason. I have a Panasonic now and it takes excellent pictures. HERE'S what my camera can do. My camera is a couple years old and only 2 MP but THIS one is 3.2 MP and has a 12x optical zoom. I also like the SD memory cards that Panasonic uses. They are very small (see HERE).
