Audio problem, need help

So, here is the deal. I am getting some pretty bad feedback in my headphones. It is like I can hear all the system things that are happening, I move the mouse, I can literally hear it move. Disk starts spinning, you betcha.

I have onboard sound, ABIT IC7-G mobo. I have tried re-installing the drivers multiple times. Not sure what the problem could be. It is not the headphones, as they work properly with another computer that I have tried them on. I know that the problem resides with the on-board sound, but I have no idea why or how to fix it.

Any help is greatly appreciated...sorry if you were following the other thread. I am still frustrated and started a new one to be more specific.

I have had the same problem, but it wasn't so annoying. Maybe it wasn't as loud as yours, or I don't mind it as much. I played around with my volumes some and got rid of most of it.
When i say play around with volumes I don't just mean the master volume. Go to your control panel. Open 'Sounds and Audio Devices'. Go to the Audio tab. Click on volume in the Sound Playback sections. If there isn't a nunch of things listed there, click on Options, Properties, and make sure all the volume controls are checked.
Right now I have Microphone, TAD-in, S/PDIF-In, Line-In 2, and MIDI Synth all muted. Try muting things and playing some music, both of the HD and CD. If you can still hear everything you want, then leave it muted.

Do you have the headphones in the right jack? If you're using a sound card or onboard sound, it should be the green colored jack.

Also, try muting or unplugging the headphones plug.

yea, i have tried almost everything....it isn't that bad anymore, but i have the headphones plugged into some external speakers. so i think it is probably the sound card is just putting out way to much volume or somethign, cause I would have to turn the windows volume down to almost nothing and also something like media player all the way down too, just so it was bearable...this could be part of the problem, i have gone thru all the settings and can't figure out why it has to be so low just to make it so that it doesn't blow my eardrums out...

i have concluded that it is just the onboard sound that is having problems, and if it gets really bad, i can just get a sound card...which are cheap as it is
