Sound Card Issues.....

I recently (yesterday) installed Windows XP Professional on my pc. Before that, I had Win XP Home. Sound was working perfect until the reinstall. Now, no sound at all. I've tried everything, but nothing seems to be working. Is there some type of utility that could tell me where my issue is? I've tried installing drivers, but that didn't seem to help. Have a HP Pavilion 763n, and the standard card that comes with it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Is it flagged in device manager? You could try these: http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/121/121736.htm

Thank, but yes.....

I downloaded that driver, but I wasn't able to direct my card to it. Actually, I can't even find out the accurate name of the card in my pc. I've looked everywhere, but can't find it.....any ideas?

Go to the sound card (in device manager), then Update Driver, Select From a Lost, Browse to where it is.

I did that too, but I didn't see the driver listed when I was browsing. It's a dll file, correct? THis is driving me crazy!

Card

Yeah, but it's not allowing that as a choice for me. It'll give me the my documents folder, but won't see the dll in the folder. Where should I put it?

Is this ( http://members.driverguide.com/drive...ary&from_ums=1 ) ehat you are downloading? The file list looks more like it. I reccomend downloading it to a folder like c:\soundcardfiles or something.

I downloaded that driver, and placed it in a folder, and was able to direct the device to the folder, but it said that it didn't need to update. The device with the ! wouldn't let me update the driver, but it seems to have a problem.....

Everest is a program that tells you about your computer, like cpu and ram, you can download it at http://www.lavalys.com/products/over...ng=en&pageid=1

thanks

Downloading now. This has been a real pain. I guess the next step is to take it somewhere to be looked at, but I'm usually able to fix issues myself.....

If you can get a model and brand of the sound card then I will look for drivers. Do you have a recovery cd with the drivers on though?

No, I don't have the CD. My D: drive was my recovery disk, and it's still there. I can't select it as an option for the drivers though. Here's what my sound card is:

I downloaded it, and put it in my sound card folder. I don't see the device in the Device manager. Any idea why? I see some things, but not the device that EVEREST picked up....

The sound card is normally under sound...., although mine is not there under Eversts name, but the codec is. Try using what you downloaded on what has a question mark next to it. Other than that I'm stuck.
