DVD Player Not DTS compliant??
I have a 12x Samsung DVD-ROM drive (from my old dell), and I just bought a home stereo system to use as my main computer speaker. It is connected from my S/PDIF out on the computer to the S/PDIF in on the reciever. I was playing Bruce Almighty, because it was the only DTS DVD within arms reach, and I selected in the DVD Languages English Dolby DTS. The reciever has a display and it displays what kind of signal it is decoding, and I an only get it to decode a Dolby ProLogic II signal. I don't know how to make it Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS. It says in the manual it should do it automatically. Is it possible for the DVD player on my computer to not be DTS compliant? I don't know how recent DTS is and if it is possible for my DVD player to not have it.....

The DTS decoding is not done by the drive, but by the DVD playback software. What software do you use ? RJ

WinDVD6 Plat. It is just my onboard S/PDIF. I took the stereo back to Circuit City today and got my money back. I am just going to buy an Audigy 2 ZS and Z5300 speakers like I originally planned.
