Beep code telling me Display card connection error but...
1 long - 2 short(Beep) Display card or monitor connected error
The thing is I'm using this GeForce 4 mx 440 now on my old computer. So I know the card is good. I've tried all 4 PCI slots. Its defintely getting seated. I've screwed in the monitor conectors all the way into card. I know the monitor works I'm using it with the same exact card now. So what would you do next? Think the motherboard PCI slots are dead? Have you tried the card in another computer?
Have you tried another card in your computer?

The motherboard has AGP and from the post the sense I am getting is that the video card is a PCI card, (though a quick google of the card I found only agp versions) if this is the case, then you'll need to go into the BIOS and disable the AGP so the motherboard knows to go elsewhere to find video.
Assuming the card is AGP and not PCI - do you have another video card you can put in to use as another test of the slot, also if this is a first use of the motherboard you may need some force to get the agp card in.

The only other card I have is a viper v770 ultra agp. Really old.
I put that in the AGP slot and don't hear any beeps at all. And the GF4 mx 4(20) not 440, sorry, is definetly PCI. I'm using it right now as I type. I'll make sure the viper still works in (this) my old computer when I get back from school in a few hours. |

OK - so if we are working with a PCI video card the question to those out there who are familiar with the motherboard - Can the AGP be disabled so as to use a PCI video card instead? and then of course how to do so - I am assuming it is a least a BIOS edit on the motherboard, but do you need the AGP in first to get psat the POST.....

It asked me to continue or go to setup. I hit setup guessing it was bios. It went to a blank screen with a blinking cursor on top. Ever since I've been trying to get it started but it won't boot. If I DO get it to boot I'll try and disable AGP. If it even lets me into BIOS... I just got back from school so I will test if that AGP viper works in this computer right now. When I put the AGP viper in my new rig I get no beeps at all. brb |

I'm pretty sure the presence of a PCI video card automatically disables AGP in most motherboards, because you would have no way of getting the computer running if all you had was a PCI card. Is there a way to test another PCI card to see if it may be the PCI slots?

I suspect it's the card, and not the slots. Can you try the card in another computer?

Yah I'm using the card right now on this (my old) computer. I called ABIT and we did all the troubleshooting and we still got the beeps. He said since I was using the card in this computer it must be the motherboard. He told me to call Newegg and get it replaced.
So I did and I'm shipping it back today to get another for free! Newegg is awesome. Hopefully this new one will work. Thanks for helping. |

Glad we were able to get it figured out, but bummed you have to wait for a replacement.
Yeah - Newegg is great |
