i just bought a cheap PC from eBAy, Gateway 800 mhz Athlon thunderbird(200 bus) 256 mb SDram with a 4X AGP slot.unknown MoBo as yet.
V Nice 19 inch CRT monitor. i wanna put a sapphire 9550 256 mb 128 bit Card in place of the old TNT 32. sapphire says the 9550 supports AGP 4X, just wondering what sort of performance loss i will get not having the 8X AGP, in general gaming such as rainbow six raven shield? it runs ok with the TNT and directX 9.0c updated, so the sapphire should be a general improvement, hopefully. what ya think? |

You won't really see any performance loss from 8x to 4x. Maybe a few benchmark FPS, but certainly nothing that you'll be able to discern in real-world applications.

With most games, even the 4x speed isn't quite fully utilized yet.

You should not notice any difference in performance.
