AGP Help
I have a BCM model#vp1541 socket 7 motherboard The Graphics support says "66mhz or 133mhz w/full side-band signals"
What size mb AGP card can this motherboard handle? I have an 8mb card in it now. |

Hello and welcome to PC Mech,
that is an AGP 2x slot, supporting AGP cards with 3.3V. So you can use an AGP 2x card, an AGP Universal card (AGP universal is AGP 4x, but also supports 3.3V. Regular AGP 4x cards only support 1.5V, and they won't work in your board), or an AGP 8x universal card (which is AGP 8x, but also supports 3.3V besides 0.8V and 1.5V). But since your PC is an older one, I'd just get an AGP 2x, or AGP 4x universal card... these should be GeForce 2 and similar cards. RJ

The problem, if your motherboard is as old as you indicate, is that alot of those boards couldn't handle a T&L card back in 2000 when they first came out. Which would rule out the Geforce 2. If you've got a friend who keeps a collection of old PC Gamer magazines check out the ones for 2000. They actually tested several of the most popular motherboards and found that only one would properly support the (then) new cards like the Geforce 2. If you can't find a reseller who still has the card there's always e-bay or, with luck, you know a gamer who keeps a spare parts box.
