ATI TV Recording with Abit AT7 crackling

When recording TV or using the TV-on-Demand on my PC it recently started making a crackling sound. I have a Abit AT7 mb using the onboard AC97 sound with an ATI 8500 AIW video card running XP SP2.

I'm using the newest drivers for the video card, the sound drivers are from the original CD with the AT7 (newer drivers, both from realtek & abit give me the error "SOUNDMAN.EXE - Entry Point Not Found" on startup, but that's another problem).

This only occurs when playing back recorded TV and TV-on-Demand, normal TV play sounds fine, as do all other sound applications. I have tried the normal solutions, like changing hardware acceleration on sound card to no avail.

Any ideas?
