Bad Video Card

Hey all, I like to do some of the racing games like nfs underground and F1 racing but now my pc is locking up. Well I guess the frame freezes for about 30 to 45 seconds on then goes on like nothing happened, then about 25 to 50 seconds later it does it again, so for a say 2 minute race it takes me 5 minutes. any ideas. here is what's in my custom build pc that i did 2 years ago.

win xp, pen 4, gig SiS-645 mb, 120 gig hd, 1024 meg mem with 1 open slot left, cd writer, dvd writer, vid card is NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600, and a veiwsonic monitor.

Also just when I am surfing the web, when I have IE open sometimes my screen goes form white to yellow and sometimes flickers yellow then white. sometimes when I tap the my pc case it will go back to white like it should be. Time for a new Video Card? What is a good cheap card. this one lasted less then 2 years, if that is the problem.

Thanks Larry

Try reseating the video card. It sounds like it may be lose or not in all the way.

You could also try cracking the case open and blowing out the innards(along with the GPU fan)with a can of compressed air, but it does sound like the video card needs to be re-seated.

I think I found out what it is, my video card fan is not working. so I did what zimon said, opened the case and put a small fan blowing in and it works fine. now it is off to find a new fan or fans.

Thanks Larry
