You should go with the ATi AIW 9600 XT for $199 from here .

Hold out for the 6600GT and X700XT. They're priced around there, are more powerful than even the 5950U and 9800XT, and I believe that they come with VIVO capability.

Cool Better vs. best is so very opinion-subjective, anyway!

I am not sure I am certain what the term "VIVO" means, but I have read one thing I can say about the NV 6600 cards. They are going to be PCI-e, only, for the foreseeable future. No AGP.

No way that's only if he has the money to buy the 6600 and the x700 when they come out i reakon they will be placed around the 400-600 $ Mark because of the fact that there the newest cards out and after about a Year or so they will fall Back alot to about 200-300 $ Mark but for now there going to be Expensive. Buy The 9600 Xt Extreme there good for what your looking for unless you want something Mor POWERFULL.

Jeez guys, don't mean to be rude but please look up the topic (hint: use the search button) before posting. Trust me, I've done extensive research for this as I'm planning to use these cards for my next set of builds.

1. Nvidia says "6600 series should be available on AGP in November"

2. Official price range goes from $150 for the vanilla 6600, to $200 for the 6600GT. Aopen sells one for $215, but once everyone else gets into the mix and the oem products are out that estimate should be bang on.

3. Remember that the 6600GT has SLI, that's a distinct advantage over the X700XT, which won't ship on AGP.

Here are some sites to help you out:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_14976.html
http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/146/2/ (note that the price was downscaled just after that article)

Hope that helps, again, please RESEARCH before posting

VIVO = video in / video out

i.e. can process video both ways.

Eek...double post again...gotta be hitting that search button too many times on lag outs jk

On the graphics card, I was particularily surprised at how inexpensive the ATI AIW Radeon 9800 Pro was...259 USD - went down from around 300 USD. I would recommend this if you can get it...the AIW Radeon 9700 Pro, which used to be around 220 USD, were discontinued - too bad

lol no not a double this time lol.
On the last one I had a huge lag spike and iexplore half-froze, so that was why.
lol once the X700's out that's when the price will start tumbling lol. It'll be stupid for ATi to have a great card at the same price as an inferior once-great, so the 9800pro has to come down.

Remember that ATI has extended the All-In-Wonder functions to the Radeon X800 VPUs, but currently, the AIW is only on the X800s for new gen, and beside that, the best out is the AIW Radeon 9800 Pro - seen a big price fall in the last few weeks.

I've suddenly got a doubt. Do the 6600 series have VIVO capabilities? I can't remember but I was pretty sure...

Actually, a lot of graphics cards have VIVO function added on by the 3rd party manufacturers. My Gecube 9600XT has VIVO, and the other day I came across an FX5900XT that had VIVO too...

Olly: 6600GT is to be priced at US$200, vanilla 6600 $150. The first examples are around that price mark (there's a $215 aopen card)
I doubt that that will change

500AUD = 362USD
215USD = 296AUD

i.e. 6600GT is less that AUD300.
