video card problem

hello, again, I have a problem. I just installed windows xp home and everything went fine...

that is, until i installed doom 3 demo and also medal of honor united offense demo. It can't be defective because both of them would not work! It went threw the intros and stuff for instance the "activision" logo thingy and when i start mission? everything goes bazonkers. weird colors, can't see a thing, its not blank, just rainbowy everywhere. Could it be bios? I tried fiddling around with the settings ( o yes, i installed drivers) but to no avail. Thanks for your help

What Catalyst version did you install? Do you have DX 9C installed? Does your system pass all the DX diagnostics?

yup

yes my system passes all of the tests, and this problem is only when i run anything three d that has direct x 9.0 Is there any game that doesn't use direct x 9.0? If so, i would like to test that game/demo and see if its my card or the direct x 9.0 The version of the driver is ver 797

my conclusion thus far: the card is defective. Will ati give me a new one? i got this one from ebay...

direct x 9.0

Actually, I've tried full versions of games too. I think its a direct x problem. I downloaded it from the internet (dialup) and in between downloading the connection stoped cuz someone called so maybe it got messed up there. Has anyone else had a problem with direct x 9.0?
