Deal worth it?

the regular 9800, just the 9800, not the pro... is it a decent card? will it be able to handle newer games decently?

i just got a deal from my friend about a nice keyboard mouse regularly 80 usd, and the regular 9800 for 150...

it it worth it? im thinking so but is the 9800 worth it?

thanks
Jason

well ionno you can get the Radeon 9800Pro which is a 256bit card not a 128bit card. i think you'd be better off with a 9600XT but that's just my opinion
edit-is the keyboard with the card? cuz i think it would be ok i guess if you were to get both for 150 try to talk him down to 130-140

It depends on what Radeon 9800 it is - if it's the original ATI Radeon 9800 VPU, then it's a 256 bit card which is a good buy. But for a 128-bit card, you would be paying a bit too much for a small increase in performance caused by a small core change.

The Radeon 9800, either way, is worth more than the MX Duo.

depends on what games you're going to be running. it will probably run HL2 at mediocre to low settings on 800X600

That IS a good deal - go for it. The Radeon 9800 itself is worth around 150 USD for the 128-bit one, 180 USD for the 256-bit one (considering it being used). You have yourself a nice deal.

But we really don't know...HL2, since the source code leaks, haven't released ANY benchmarks or will it ever soon. Really, I'd say any Radeon 9800 should run it at at least medium settings.
