PCI-Express Video Card

Looking for recommendations on a PCI-Express video card for a new build.

Seems like the prices go from $100-250 or $500-1000.

I'd rather be in the $100-250 category for now.

Will be used mostly for gaming, 3-D such as SW: KOTOR and some isometric RPGs such as BGII. And of course, whatever comes out in the relatively near future

Doesn't have to be top of the line if the price is right, I'll just upgrade again later. But as always a good performer for the price is preferred.

Should I be looking for a 128MB card or a 256MB card?

Thanks,

For PCI-Express, what you would want now is a GeForce 6600, or a 6600 GT. In some benchmarks, the 6600 prevails over the GT... Odd... Either way, the 128 MB models are around 150 USD, while 256 MB models are around 199 USD (that's the price for the only one I've seen...). I want one very badly, but I'm kinda out of money after having built my computer. However, I do hope to get one for Christmas... Anyway, yes, it's a terrific card which you should be very pleased with.

Cool. I haven't kept up with the newer numbering schemes, so they were throwing me...FXthis, 5740that, MXthere.

I appreciate the recommendation, cantputt04

Ditto on the 6600GT. I'm just waiting for the AGP version.

Thanks Alienware_Dude.

This is the last new build I'm probably going to get to do for quite some time, so I figured I would break the bank and go PCI-E, LGA775, SATA, and all that other yummy good 'new' (to me ) stuff.
