Getting sound but!!
I installed a Avance Logic ALS 4000 sound card- PCI 32 Bit and I get sound if I use speakers that need to be plug into an power outlet. I have some other speaker that I want to use on this system just so the wife can go online and check emails. They are not powered by an outlet, just the plugin type. These do work good on my other systems but not this one. If I turn the volume up all the way I can just hear it some. Is there something not set right? Does this sound card only work with powered speakers? Thanks for any replys.... Dave

Chances are this is a pre amp sound card and it therefore needs powered speakers to work, hence the reason you are having problems with your nonpowered speakers.

It says that Its a Stand-Alone Audio Card. Are you sure of this... before I spend the money on speakers. Thanks
Here is a link to the card that I'm using... http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...121&pfp=BROWSE |

Have a look at this link.
http://www.orpheuscomputing.com/als-4000.html The fact that it is "line out" rather than "audio out" suggests to me that it requires the use of speakers with their own amplifier to reproduce the sound from the "line out" signal. Last edited by rjfvillarosa; 10-20-2004 at 04:44 PM. |

I agree if it says line out....it is a line level signal and needs additional amplification.
