Allright...so I've got my new build up and running and I've run into a very minor question here. My DVD burner comes with the requisite "digital audio" cable - there's also an analog cable for my DVD ROM. After doing a quick search on the subject, I've got some differing information as to the necessity of actually attaching these cables to the sound card.
So obviously, my question is: Can someone give me a definitive answer as to whether or not I should plug these cables into the respective digital and analog slots on my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS card? Will I lose any sound quality playing audio CDs if I don't? I'm a bit anal retentive when it comes to having a clean and organized case and I don't want to have to have any cables hanging in my case that I don't need. Thanks for the help, this forum has been great resource for me lately. Last edited by lucasc83; 10-21-2004 at 07:26 PM. |

I can only answer the question of, no you don't need them. I never use them, and haven't for some time. Is the quality of sound any worse off because of it? I don't know. I haven't noticed any difference at all. For the analog side of it, by not using the wires you are in digital sound mode.
