KVM Problem
Hi all,
Since I have been getting so many requests to repair computers, I have set up a small repair area in my house. I'm using a D-Link KVM so I don't have to keep connecting and disconnecting the video, keyboard, and mouse wires, and so I can use my main computer at the same time to both transfer files (if needed) or check the internet. I have found this device an invaluable time saver, but I am having one problem with it. When I switch from computer '2' back to computer '1', the mouse does not work. It will still operate on computer '2' (even if I switch back), but the only way to get it to work on computer '1' is to reboot. The mouse is a microsoft trackball. It is USB being sent throught a USB to PS/2 converter included with the mouse. I haven't tried another mouse (probably should), but I was wondering what the issue may be. Both the monitor and keyboard work fine switching back and forth. Thanks in advance. |

lpc300 my KVM does the same thing, I also use a USB to PS/2 logitech mouse, maybe it has to do with the USB, I haven't tried messing with it, I just reboot the computer.

On my KVM, I use a regular PS2 mouse and it switches just fine. I believe that USB mouse even with the adapter has to be plugged in at bootup to be recognized.

Same here. KVM doesn't recognize until reboot. Perhaps it will work if you (switchviewer) is one of those types powered by an adaptor. Mine isn't.
