And odd one, sound not coming from the correct speakers.

New forumite here, but like it says in the title, my sound card doesn't play through the right speakers

Hardware specs:
OS: WinXP SP1
Processor: P4 2.6
Motherboard: Intel D865PERL (Has OEM soundcard, soundmax, which has been disabled in the BIOS)
Video Card: Ati Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB
Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy (Don't ask Audigy what, please, it's all it is. No other specs are available.)
Altec Lansing 5.1 audio speaker system.

Whenever I run through the test on the Speaker option on the Creative AudioHQ, the test goes something like this:

Front left, through center speaker.
Center speaker is dead, but the test moves on.
Front Right, through Subwoofer.
Rear left, through front left.
Rear right through front right.

Before anyone asks the plugs are in the correct holes. At least those that give me a modicum of sound. All other configurations don't give me a beep.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the CD, went to Creative Labs and only ONE update was available, the web update, all others claim I don't have an Audigy board. Reseated the board...

Help! I am at a loss.

Hi Nagisawa,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !!

OK, so the plugs are in
1) the top hole for the Center and Subwoofer,
2) 4th hole down for the front speakers, and
3) 5th (last) hole down for the rear speakers
??

It seem like you have the "original" Audigy (a.k.a. Audigy 1), so when you get the drivers updates, you should not use drivers for any flavor of the Audigy 2.

Can't, my case has some odd spacing issues, well, I CAN technically if I want to jam the card next to the ATI's Fan... I'll try it.

Each plugs is also unique and can only fit in their proper holes, I couldn't swap 'em if I wanted to.

Which is what I did, but the choices are Audigy LS, Platinum, Platinum eX, Gamer, MP3+, none of which are MY card. Each driver said so, when I tried to install all except the MP3+ web update.

Is the software set up for a 5.1 speaker system? My Audigy 2 started behaving like this and the drivers had decided my 6.1 speakers were 4.1.

Don't follow.... The jacks on my SB Live!, Audigy, and Audigy 2 cards are all the same and are easy to mix up (I do it all the time).

OH! I mistook what you meant, TwoRails, I'll try it out! When I am back home.
