Where can I get projection screens?
I searched on newegg for projection screens but couldnt find any. Then I searched PCM but couldn't find anything helpfull. I'm looking for a screen that is good quality with as good a picture and as big as possible. What reliable sites sell projection screens? Money isn't a concern right now.

Any place that sells AV equipment. Best Buy, Circuit City, Rex, etc.
One of those guys probably supplies them.

I cant find what I want. I'm looking for a screen for a front projector. Figure I would use it for a monitor. Also can you hook up a projector to your video card instead of a monitor. So I would have no monitor at all. Is it going to be good in the light? and good for gaming on?

Well, what are you looking for?
Yes, you could use it as a monitor, however, the ambient room lighting can't be *too* bright, otherwise you loose contrast and intensity on the projected image. |

" I'm looking for a screen for a front projector". I don't understand your question. |

Is it better to just get a monitor and forget the whole projection thing?

I would say yes... projectors are great for DVDs and multiplayer Xbox parties and the like, but not for general computer use. For a decent quality projector to be worth the extra money it would cost over a quality monitor, it has to have a LOT of wallspace/screenspace- and if it's that large, then you have to move your head around a lot just to read a website, as opposed to just moving your eyes. May seem minor, but it's important. Of course, you solve that problem by sitting far away from it- but then you have no size advantage and you're back where you started.
Finally, replacement bulbs for projectors are very pricey, and although they last a while they will need to be replaced eventually. You don't really need a screen for a projector. A flat flat white wall is sufficient imho. (flat as in untextured and flat as in non-glossy) |
