I want to be able to play my PS2 through my PC so I can use my monitor and 5.1 surround. I know there have been a couple other posts on this, I did a little searching but didn't find what I needed. I have a Powercolor 9600 Pro with a VGA input and S-Video. My sound card is an Audigy LS with all your standard stereo hookups and an SPDIF in. I've seen an adapter for the PS2 that has the AV multi for PS2 on one end, and S-Video and RCA jacks on the other end. So I'm thinking, can I run the S-Video to my video card and use something like this to the line in on my sound card? I've also thought of another option - can i use the same adapter, hook the S-Video to my video card and then find some kind of an adapter to run from the optical out on my PS2 to the SPDIF in on my sound card?
Also, if I hook all this up how is it going to work when I turn on my PS2? Will I have to setup two monitors in my display properties? VGA for my PC and S-Video for my PS2? Also, what about the sound? Will it work when I turn the PS2 on while the PC is on? Thanks for any and all help. Forgive me for any improper AV terms I've used, I'm not too good with AV.

You would need an AIW video card or a PCI TV tuner with RCA and S-video inputs.
VGA and S-Video are outputs on your card. So, in effect, the setup you are thinking of will not work, as-is.

Well that actually kinda works out since I've been thinking about getting a PCI TV Tuner. So I guess it won't work with my current setup - say I get a TV Tuner. What do I do then?

Just match up the correct outputs from the PS2 to the inputs on the card.

This was recommended to me, in case anyone was wanting to try this. I think I may pick this up when I get the money.

I don't know anything about external TV tuners, so I can't really comment on that one.
The RCA jacks are for R and L channel sound, and the S-video is for the video signal. |

If you want surround, you can use the optical output on the PS2. Of course, you'll need an optical input on your sound card.

I wouldn't bother to play your PS2 on your computer...unless u get a digital capture card. If you get an analog one you'll have to use the non-progressive setting in PS2 for games. Then when you play the game on your computer you'll have to de-interlace on the fly and still after that the quality isn't that good. I tried it and didnt like it one bit.
