Thumbs up Again, CDA and WAV files

Hello all

Again, I have another question about media files. My WINAMP program doesn't support CDA files, and I don't know the reason . Though, is there a way to update the program so it can deal with such files? If not, is there a free software to convert CDA files into WAVs?

Thanks to all in advance

Dear Smidget

CDA is the extension of the file, just like this: TRACK01.CDA. The file appears like WINAMP files, but its extension is as mentioned. On the other hand, I have some saved WINAMP file with WAV extension, but they are OK. So, can you help me?

I found this here
Quote:
What is .CDA format?
.cda - not a file format but a way of displaying audio tracks, much like a menu, to convert CDA to MP3, must must firstly put the CD in your CD-ROM.
This website presents a program to rip CDA to MP3, but unfortunately, it isn't freeware.

if you are just sticking your cd in the drive and copying them to your hd, then taking it out, its not going to work. you should be able to leave the cd in the drive and play them in winamp no problem.

cdex and dbopweramp are both freeware converters that will take the songs on your cd and turn them into mp3

what is the os and version of winamp?

when you stick the cd in, does anything happen at all? if so, what happens. it should work with the cd in, and it should be an easy fix. might as well try to see if it can be fixed. glad to hear parts of it work, tho

when I stick the CD in, the program runs but without any sounds.

I hope that dear

By the way, all files work with Widows Media Player, but with bad-quality sound, so I don't use it.

Thank you again for your interest.

ok, how old is the computer, and what is the operating system?

also, do you have a cable running from your cd-rom into your sound card?

do you have dma enabled?

alright, my follow up question, which i should have asked previously is, is this a new problem, or has it always been a problem? if its new, i have no idea what would cause it, but if its been ongoing, i would look into enabling dma, and running a cable to the sound card for better performance. we'll try to get this sorted out, as it should be working
