security cams on computer ?

Can someone help me understand how to use sec. cams on my computer.
I have an older all-inwonder video card that has video in ( will that work )
Do i need a dif. card for cameras if i want use 3 for outside.
How big hard drive should i have ??
Any help or place of good reading would be helpful.
I have athlon 1800 xp if that helps..

Hi mrblue,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !!

Not sure exactly what you want. There are two basic types of setups. One typical one for computers is basically a "motion sensor" type of setup. In otherwords, the recording doesn't start until the specialized program sees motion in the vid feed. Another type is record constantly.
