VPU recover problem?

I have a pentium 4 3.0ghz, ATI Radeon 9600xt celestia gold edition (if it matters) and a gig of ram.

I was having a problem with getting a VPU recover error for any 3d application I tried to run. All the games I tried with the exception of one: Soldier of Fortune II.

3dmark01 would give it to me, but 3dmark05 would run all the way through just fine.

I had tried EVERYTHING to attempt to fix it, but finally gave up.

However, then I decided to mess with the drivers some more, and downloaded the driver for the 9600 card for windows XP media center edition. I have windows xp home edition.

This caused 3dmark01 to work all the way through, and the UT2003 demo to work, neither of which did before.

However, Morrowind and Delta Force: Black Hawk Down still do not work.

Anyone encountered this problem?
