X800 XT won't let me go beyond 1280x1024 resolution

Put together my new PC over the weekend, and everything is honky dory, except one problem: For some reason the display control panel won't let me increase screen resolution beyond 1280x1024.

Now, I've checked under the monitor tab. It reports the flat panel monitor correctly, it's a DELL 19" LCD monitor, and I believe the max resolution reported is something like 1900x1600 or so. Also, the 'Monitor 2' goes all the way up to the max resolution, it's the 'Monitor 1' that's stuck on this incorrect max resolution.

Anyone know where to start looking for sollutions to this?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

My bad. Apparently that is the max screen resolution for my monitor, despite the fact that somewhere in there I saw 1900xsomething.

I have never seen any 17", 18 or 19" TFT that was not a laptop TFT that has a higher resolution than 1280x1024.

So, wherever you saw 1900xsomething, it was wrong (I've seen a few wrong resolutions, too).

You can also see it. When the picture is the sharpest it can get, you have native resolution, and native res = max. res.

RJ's is right - no TFT (other than a select few laptop TFTs) has a resolution higher than what you are getting. But...just a quick browse over to the product page @ dell.com shows the max as 1280x1024.

the 1900+x resolution was probably the highest resolution the card could display.
