would i notice a big difference between the 2?

Hi,
I currently own this sound card: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-173&depa=0

Im just wondering if there would be a noticeable sound difference between that card and this one: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-162&depa=0

In my opinion, yes. The SB Live! (16-bit) is of equal or slightly better quality than that found on the onboard sound of the motherboard while the SB Audigy (24-bit sound) series take sound to a new level - I have the lesser SB Audigy LS version and it outputs very nice and clear sound along with my z640 speakers.

Im thinkin about just spending like the extra 25 bucks and then i get 5 nice games. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-171&depa=0

I noticed a little difference between onboard and my current card but not a HUGE difference. Im thinkin this will be a nice difference.

don't forget, it's also your speakers. if you don't have nice speakers, that won't improve sound quality that much

Yes, you will definitely notice a difference between the two, but as Yuanji said, it also has to do with your speakers.

Well considering i have a set of bose mediamate speakers which i consider to be some of the best 2 pc speakers there are, and a creative 2.1 speaker system, i dont think crappy speakers will be my problem. I only really have room for 4.1 and stuff and thats fine with me but i want a little bit better clarity.
