will a dvi-d moniter run off dvi vc?

now before you guys jump me hear me out ,been having problems getting dvi side of my moniter to work even tho it has with previous card with this new evga only vga side works,after talking to the manufacturer of my moniter he tells me that its dvi-d only,well dont most 6800 series cards have a dvi port tho some are dvi-i which he said wont work because of the pin arrangment that this moniter is pure dvi-d,jeessee im going to duck tape my head to keep it from exploding

The digital pins are the same on both DVI-I and DVI-D connections. The only difference is that DVI-I has 5 additional pins for analog, but if you're not using analog, there is no difference at all.
