ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AIW vs. Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb
I'm either going to purchase one of those cards, and I really like the features on the AIW card with the cable tv features..But how is this card with gaming? Should I consider forgetting about the AIW and get the 9800 Pro with the 256mb? The first upgrade I'm going to be doing is video card and power supply...And another card I was thinking about is the GeForce 6600 GT...TIger Direct has this card in stock for $225.00 (AGP Card) Newegg has the 9800 Pro AIW FOr $239.00 and not sure for the 9800 256mb card...

The AIW card and the regular card are exactly the same except for the tuner in the AIW card. The amount of memory does not make a huge difference from one to the other.
If you want the tuner go with the AIW but if you don't care get the 9800 Pro 256 MB.

The better of the two deals would be by far the All-In-Wonders - the ATI AIW Radeon 9800 Pro I think was priced around 230 USD the last time I saw which is 30 USD less than the 256MB version of the regular Radeon 9800 Pro and has about the equivelant performance in games. The extra vRAM might help with current games, but the difference is generally ineggligible.

the AIW is a killer card....just used one in the rig i built for my boss. the 256MB 9800 pro is excellent to. it can be BIOS flashed to a true XT. most of the 256MB 9800 Pros come on a 9800XT PCB and use the 2.5ns Hynix memory used on the XT as well.
