Onboard Audio not compatible with Speakers?

I have and AOpen i915-Ga-E motherboard with azalia onboard audio, the system is running windows xp home and when trying to connect the Boston Acoustics BA735 speakers I get no sound whatsoever. Is there away to configure the sound to produce digital output only so these speakers will work?

Thank you in advance.

I don't know what you have for audio on your M/B but, I belive you have digital speakers so you must have digital output to your speakers.
