ATI Radeon Driver Problem

I have an 128mb ATI Radeon 9200 (AGP8X) graphics card and it has been working fine for almost a year.

But since ive used the computer today, every time ive logged on i get this message:

I have tried reinstalling the driver from the manufacturer cd but it still seems to appear when i log on again.

Things like scrolling webpages are all juttery not like before.

If anyone could help this would be great,
Thankyou

Ian

Instead of installing from the CD try downloading from the manufacturers website, there might be a newer driver available.

Have you installed anything over the last few days?

Under display adaptors it has:

CP Technologies Inc. RADEON 9200SE with a yellow circle and exclamation mark next to it.

In propeties of the device it says:

Display Type: Display Adaptors
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Location: PCI Bus 1, device 0, function 0

Device Status
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

You did it alright. Is your screen in basic mode? or has it got 32bit colours and high resolution?
Try taking the card out checking for any dust or pin corrosion (don't touch it with fingers though or clean with cleaning fluids.... try re-seating it again... sometimes over time cards work their way loose with the hot and cold temps a computer experiences... If you have the option of installing one software module at a time at a time try that, starting with ATI Display Driver... did you download the driver off the website? http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

I hope your card isn't faulty... hrmmm.

I will be away for hours now so I hope that someone else can carry on from here, otherwise I will check in to see how you went. Good luck!

you might try removing the driver and reinstalling it from the device manager.

Lets start by cleaning up your system with AdAware and Spybot... a checkup with Housecall wouldn't hurt either.... Messenger Plus is loaded with spyware as seen here.

Try running the Catalyst Uninstaller from ATI, then re-install. It may clear out whatever problem is happening there.

I think Spartan is right here.
It sounds like the install/uninstall of Messenger Plus broke something ( Isn't that the program with the fancy pop-up window that's still in beta? ).
Pull out your XP cd and do a repair install.

It might be a good idea to drop by the Messenger PLUS! forums and report this in the bug section : http://msgplus.mybboard.com/
