I just got a new graphic card, a ASUS v9520 GeForce FX 5200 128mb. I just got Saturday and I installed it and what not. But now problems persist, i have updated the drivers(im not sure which is driver and which isnt so i installed all of them) and it ran nice until i tried to load up a game, the first time was it would restart(before i had drivers) i installed drivers and Rise of Nations would load up and I would not get any problems whats so ever. Now I tried loading up Unreal 2004 demo(new one), ok heres the problem, when i change the screen resolution it goes black (like all games since its resetting the size) and it stays black, no lights from the hd either...it plays but i cant change resolution. the worst one is halo custom edition( halo pc that plays user created maps, free stand alone product, tho u need the halo pc original cd and cd key) it loads up but then it would go black. another is when windows starts, it goes black before the start up user chocies (after the windows logo and the little blue bar (or green) ) and it wont do anything. If it does go to the user mode it sits in the area saying Windows is about to start and stays like that for about 2min then my user names would come up. Whats happening? do i need to reinstall xp? i did a repair install but that may not be enough...

Make sure that if you had an ATi card, to completely uninstall the drivers. Do a google search for an application called DriverCleaner. Also for Halo CE, on around half of the computers with sp2, it doesn't work at all. You eithr need to get rid of sp2 or get an updated version of the strings.dll which you can find links to on www.gearboxsoftware.com

in correct, they never did that, and halo trial does have strings.dll i dunno what ur talking about but really they do have them, go to the microsoft site, they have it for it, go install and look in the folder there is one. im still looking for the halo ce strings but when i dl from a halo ce site www.haloimpulse.com (i think .com) and downloaded from the halo ce area(they dont have a halo trial since it is based for halo ce) i get the halo trial strings. it even says in the properties. how else would the list of games area and have the message on the bottom say welcome to halo trial? im not mad at u or anything im just pointing out that cuz thats like the only game i played in the summer. and this does not help my graphic card problem, i got halo ce to load even on my old ati card With SP2...

Try testing the video card in another computer. It sounds like it may be a problem with the video card.
