Video Card Woes, I also need input on a comparison
Well the long story is that I bought a video card reccoemended by this board from a site. I got it, installed it, liked it, and a month later it went bad. I returned it and am now awaiting my replacement. But guess what? The site no longer loads up and the 1-800 number is disconnected. Any advice here? Dispute the charge with my credit card company?
I play everquest 2. Now, of course I need a new card. I could go ahead and buy a Radeon 9800 PRO with 128mb for about $150. Which is better the 9800 or the x700 PRO with 128mb for about $160. If a much better card is only a few dollars more than I obviously want go with the better one. If the 9800 is the best I can get for $150 than thats what I'll stick with. Thanks for the input PS I should mention that the 9800 PRO is the one that went bad, however I was very pleased with it during the month that it did work. adrianse Last edited by adrianse; 01-04-2005 at 12:04 PM. I don't know if I can post that company name, but since they apparently out of business I guess I'll try.
The compnay was pricesupport that also goes under the name of Advanced Internet Holdings Inc. Here is the contact info... http://www.pricesupport.com/index.html 1-800-314-5402 |

I'd dispute the charge and do it ASAP. There are time limits on disputing a charge.

no luck....
I tired to dispute the charges and there is a 60 day window. I bought this card back in September, it went bad beginning of December. So unfortunatley it's to late to dispute it.

Need to know if you have an AGP or PCI-E slot. If it's AGP, I don't think you'll even be able to get your hands on an x700
![]() For a replacement AGP card, the GeForce 6600 GT is supposed to outperform the 9800Pro and it's more or less within the same price range

Try contacting the attorney general in the state that place supposedly did business. They'll be able to tell you who to go to for resolution, or if nothing can be done, they will tell you that as well.

What did I just do????? Oh my God, it doesn't fit!
Quote from Moose on the Loose: "For a replacement AGP card, the GeForce 6600 GT is supposed to outperform the 9800Pro and it's more or less within the same price range"
I promptly ordered the 6600 GT and it arrived today. One problem, the 6600 GT is apparently PCI Express as the card will not fit any of my slots. Is is possible to convert one of the PCI slots to a PCI Express? Or did Moose on the Loose make a mistake in the above quote. Did I make a mistake? Please tell me there is a way to make this work....!!!! adrianse |

I only suggested it, I never said you should go out and buy one right now. Nevertheless, I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope you can return it and get an AGP version in stead. |
