The best cards are the X800XT Platinum Edition from ATI and the Geforce 6800Ultra from Nvidia.

In the price range of the X800Pro however (~$400), the better choice is the Geforce 6800GT. The X800Pro is a powerful card but the 6800GT is more so for the money.

Correction: The X850XT-PE is the most powerful.
6800GT is indeed the best bang for buck in the $400 price range. Very nice card

However, I find it difficult to put a graphics card that costs $400 in any kind of 'bang-for-your-buck' category.

So would I.

I'd say most powerful card on the shelves is definately the Radeon X800 XT-PE or the GF6800U.

there are rumours that the X800XL can OC up to and past X850XT PE speeds since it is based on 110nm technology.
