Frame rates & refresh rates ??
Can someone clear up what is probably a dumb question. I am upgrading/replacing my system and while researching what monitor to get I ran into a conundrum - to me anyway.

I am a gamer and have followed the technical reviews enough to know that high FPS (frames per second) is what we strive for. So if I can get 100 fps on Far Cry or whatever thats great. BUT if my monitor has a refresh rate of say 85 Hz (which seems normal on CRTs at higher resolutions) what happens to the "lost" frames. Have I just wasted a lot of money on my CPU and GPU? And if I have a LCD with a 16 ms response time my refresh rate equivalent is down 62 Hz!

Any enlightenment ?
