Questions on 6600 GT vs. 9800 Pro? Check This Out...
I hope I am not stepping in water that I shouldnt swim in but...
Lately I have seen more and more new threads posted about members asking what kind of video card they should get between nVidia's GeForce 6600 GT and Radeon's 9800 Pro. I am not saying that this is a bad thing with so many posts, because I am guilty of it too! I just felt like this would really cut down on the repetitive posts about "6600 GT vs. 9800 Pro" and so forth. This was initiated because I wanted to do more research for myself on the subject to help in my choice and I came across some superb articles from The Tech Report.com that I thought where good enough to share with everyone. Listed below are a few links about each card. They are quite long and in-depth articles that cover everything from the 6600's PCI-E and AGP differences all the way to fill rates and pixel shaders!!! These articles describe everything that each card is capable of down to the "T."Please take a look for yourself and search the forums here at PC-Mech for any other information before starting a new thread. I just think this would really help cut down on the same information being posted so much! NVIDIA's GeForce 6600 GT AGP graphics card http://techreport.com/reviews/2004q4...p/index.x?pg=1 NVIDIA's GeForce 6600 GT graphics processor http://techreport.com/reviews/2004q3...t/index.x?pg=1 Preview: NVIDIA's GeForce 6600 series GPUs http://techreport.com/etc/2004q3/gef...0/index.x?pg=1 ATI's All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro graphics card http://techreport.com/reviews/2003q3...o/index.x?pg=1 ATI's Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card http://techreport.com/reviews/2003q1...o/index.x?pg=1 I hope this helps everyone in making their decision on a new video card and answering any questions they might have about them!!! That is between the 6600 GT and 9800 Pro! This sure has opened up a whole new perspective for me!AK

There are also some very good reviews on Anandtech and Tom's hardware, both saying that the 6600GT is the card to get. Thanks for the links

Great post.
But in here...http://techreport.com/reviews/2004q4/geforce-6600gtagp/index.x?pg=1..."NVIDIA currently uses the HSI bridge to make its graphics chips with AGP interfaces work on PCI-E motherboards. The GeForce PCX line of cards use the bridge chip in this way"... I dont think wht the above line means is that cards wit AGP interface work in PCI-Exprss slots! |

Just found another good link about the 6600 GT AGP card...
Click here to take a look at it. I think it covers some of the same stuff the others do, but it is worth a look. This one is from Guru3d.com... AK |
