Smile KDS-XF70 moniter problem

I have a KDS - XF70 moniter that is several years old. My problem started when I took it to a freinds house to prove his moniter was bad . The problem I'm having is left side of screen is fussey, you can re boot and problem goes away most of the time , just wanted to know if anyone knew of a fix for this. Would like to get a 17 in. LCD moniter , but would like to wait for the price to come down a little more

thats in advance, you guys are great
