S-Video Woes

Hey guys,

I'm trying to hook up a makeshift HTPC to my TV, and the only out on my ATI 9200 is S-Video. This presents a problem because when I have the computer hooked up to my TV via S-Video, no other connected inputs take presedence over it. For instance:

I have my DVD player hooked up via RCA jacks (standard hookups) to the back of the TV. If I have my TV's aux channel set to DVD, it works fine. As soon as I hook the S-Video into the back of the TV, it swaps to the computer and I can no longer watch DVDs through the standalone player.

My question is this: How do I fix this? If not an option to set through my TV, then what cables would you guys recommend to adapt the S-Video to?

Thanks for your help!

From my experience with this you may have to just unplug the S-Video cable each time you want to switch between each input. This does 'suck' if you do not have the option of switching modes like my Sony TV allows me too if I used S-Video as well. My RCA TV I have by my computer does the same thing you are having trouble with. Although I dont use the dual display right now or even have it hooked up.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of this. Oh well, I guess it won't be all that bad. It'll DEFINATELY be something I look for on the next TV I buy, however

Thanks again.
