You may not have a proper mpeg codec.
There's a free one in the tools list at www.videohelp.com
Search for mpeg codec (duh!)
Alternatively, get WinDVD, or PowerDVD or other GOOD dvd viewer. They all (usually) come with a good mpeg codec.
