Screen keeps blinking.. ARgh! My eyes!....

Hi everyone,

Ive recently installed a new graphics card ( Excalibar Radeon 9800 pro ) and am finding that when I boot up my computer and run applications, the screen blinks (Turns all black for about a second ) repeadedly. I unistalled my old graphics drivers (onboard graphics I believe) using the Add/Remove programs feature. Can anyone help me with why its doing this? I have windows XP home, and the comp below.

Cheers,
oSo

Is your onboard graphics disabled in the bios? If not, you may still be getting conflicts that way. Check your Device Manager and see if both Graphics are showing up.

I managed to get into the setup at the startup but wasnt sure how to disable the onboard graphics. The problem is now that the screen is flicking so much when i access setup, I cant read the text. The old graphics card drivers are not listed on the Add/Remove programs.

Ya gotta check in Device Manager to see if both are enabled. Start>right click My Computer>properties>hardware tab>Device Manager. What do you see under Display adapters?

Sounds like the problem isn't dual graphics then. That's the normal listing for an ATI card with both 15 pin Dsub and digital connectors. Can you download the latest ATI drivers on another machine and transfer them to the problem machine with a usb drive or burned on a CD? Sounds like a driver problem now.
