Audio problem when recording from the TV
System specs
Asus A8V ver 2.0 AMD64 3500+ 1 gig Kingston PC3200 ram [2X 512] ATI 9800XT video card Video capture card is a leadtek winfast 2000 expert Everything works fine except for one thing. When I record a TV show for later viewing, it will play ok until I FF through the commercials. When I do this, the audio gets out of sync with the video. I should add that this card worked fine with my old soltek board and amd 2600+ I could FF through commercials with no problems at all. This problem occurs in both win2k sp4 and XP pro sp2. I have done clean installs for both os and the problem still occurs. Thanks for any ideas. |

I should have added that I have tried three sound cards; the onboard sound, an audigy2 value sound card, and an abit au10. All three devices had the same result.

Do you know what codec you are using to record?

This type of problem is usually associated with a codec issue - timecode is somehow thrown off when you fast forward. It really has nothing to do with your soundcard. Most likely it has something to do with how the MPEG2 file is being split by DirectShow. Usually the two parts of the MPEG2 file are split (for playback) via the same path - your system may be splitting the audio to a different decoder and it cannot keep up when you fast forward.
I know that does not give you the answer. But I would try playing with the capture settings or even change the format. See if that makes this work. Or you could re-install your MPEG2 codecs. Dave. |

Thanks, I am going to install a different hd and do a clean install. I will see how it works after doing that.
Thanks again. |

I think I got it fixed. Your post gave me an idea. I changed codecs and it seems to work now. I used another codec.
Thanks again. |

It is fixed. I just watched a TV show and it worked great. Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction.
