Download the appropriate drivers from the manufacturer's sites ahead of time and burn them to a cd or put them on a USB drive. What about the mobo drivers? Did you install them?

no i didnt, but everything is working except the sound, i have tried downloading appropriate drivers and it says it couldnt detect any soundblaster devices and to make sure they are installed properly. If i go into the sound and audio devices window in control panel it says there is no audio device, yet in device manager it shows "CreativeSBLive! Gameport" what is goin on, i made sure the card was in properly etc, yet the download says it cant detect anything.

Download the mobo drivers first. Even tho "everything is working", you're most likely running on the default drivers loaded by XP. You need the appropriate chipset drivers before the add-on cards. Once that is done make sure you downloaded the correct drivers for your sound card, try the Installer program. If that doesn't work, go to the Device Manager and click Update Driver or Reinstall Driver and point it to the downloaded file.

it is recommended that the motherboard drivers be installed as soon as the O/S is installed before any other software is installed.
