Getting PC humming and mouse movent noises through speakers

First off I apologize if this has been answered somewhere else. I couldn't find a solution with a search here. SO here goes.

I have had noise coming through my speakers for almost a year now. It it usually a humming noise when the HD is running, then it makes a low thumping noise when at rest. At times I have heard a pretty audible noise when moving my mouse pointer, expecially when using it to move slider bars on websites and such. The most annoying of all is the noise it would make when I used my mouse wheel, it would make a whirring noise as the wheel turned. All this makes PC gaming with amazing sounds a bit tainted. I mean, I want to here the game, not my hard drive/ mouse. Odd thing is right now the mouse isn't doing it. Yesterday I could here my keystrokes makes a change is the buzz coming from the speakers. I just bought new speakers hoping to end the problem with better insulated wires.......but it is here again ONLY NOW IT IS IN 5.1 SOUND!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! I have searched the web looking for ansers and found a couple of good posts, none of which helped, but since this seems to be a problem that has many causes I will list the 2 links here below. IF ANYONE has a solution to this sound issue plz let me know. I am using Realtek onboard sound, I am wondering if just getting a PCI slot card would help with insulatio/isolation. This whole problem reminds me of getting engine noise through car speakers.

Do you have a stock or a modified case? Are all the covers properly installed?

Thanks for getting back with me.
What do you mean by stock or modified case? Please elaborate.
WHen you ask if the covers are properly installed, do you mean the side panels of the tower? I don't have either sliding panel on the case because I thought it would help on cooling. SHould I put them back on? Do they provide some sort of filtering effect?

I am fairly PC literate and did build this sytem myself with the help of a friend, but there are going to be some areas that I am in the dark on.

Thanks again.

Yes, the covers must be on for proper RF shielding. You also need to have the correct I/O shield installed in the case at the rear port block. That's the metal plate with holes in it that the ports on the motherboard stick out of.

If you have modified the case - such as cutting holes in it or installing a window, this can break the RF shield integrity.

Well I put both sides of the case back on. The sheilds are in place in the back. But I still get noise from my speakers. Before I put everything in place the mouse stopped making sound in the speaker, as did the keynoard. It seems that the noise coincides with my hard drives working. There is a pulsing low thump right now as I right this, but if I load a program (anything that takes a few moments to load: photoshop, a game ect.) I hear a low rumbling sound. I have isolated the sound to be only coming from the subwoofer, not any other speakers.

And now, as I write this, the mouse sound is again happening.

Here is something i noticed. I have talked about the mouse noises and the sound of graphics changing.
The mouse makes sound when I move it around an openwindow like IE or outlook. It also makes the wheel mouse noise when I use the wheel.

The mouse does NOT make any noise at all when it is on the desktop. I can move it all over the desktop window and spin the wheel. No noise from the mouse. I still hear the low thumping noise in the subwoofer though.

Could this be a graphics card grounding issue? I definitely hear graphics being loaded or changed. When I move my mouse over something that highlights I hear a thump. Maybe it isn't the whell of the mouse making the sound but the movement of the screen up and down that I hear? And the mouse movement noises, maybe the noise comes from the PC processing the mouse movements? I still hear the thrumming a low buzzing noise when I load any program. The fact that sometimes I can hear my keystrokes...... It is the sound of the letters appearing on the screen, not the keyboard itself?

Does any of this sound logical? The noises definitely seem to coincide with graphic moving or changing on rpograms that I have open. The thumping noise could be the sound of the current not being grounded?

what do you guys/gals think?
