having problems with aux...

i posted this in the peripherals section as well, but i got no response.. and anyways i think this is the correct place to post... its just copied and pasted:

ok, i got me a y audio cable, basically to hook up my sterio with my computer via aux. well the problem is that i can only hear the noise coming out of one of the speakers...when i play the cd on the stereo, both speakers work, but when i switch it to auxiliary, only one. the working speaker depends on where you plug in the white cable (on the Y audio cable)... if i plug in the white cable in the white slot, the right speaker works, when i plug the white cable in the red slot, the left speaker works. I did the speaker test on the diagnostic test on the sound blaster control pannel and i hear 'left speaker, right speaker' in the right speaker (its suppose to say left speaker on the left speaker and say right speaker on the right speaker). i tried switching the plugs and the wires for the speakers but no luck. y'all ahve any suggestions as to why this is happening?

-thanks

umm.. i fixed it. i rewired the cables and instead of hooking up the aux cable with the case (that was inturn wired to my sound card), i got a direct connection with the sound card itself. and well thats all.. if the mods wanna remove this, they can.
