Question What is VIVO?

Hey everybody. I was looking at the Sapphire X800XT VIVO. I know this means "Video in, Video Out" but will i still have to purchase a tv tuner? Thanx everybody.

VIVO is simply the ability to input and output composite and/or s-video. The card will not have a tuner built-in - so yes, you'll need to buy a seperate tuner.

VIVO cards are generally sought after by people wanting to do a bit of video editing, or to output their system to a TV.

VIVO cards have built in tv-tuners as far as I know.

Not all of them. My 6600GT has VIVO but no TV Tuner functionality.

What about the Sapphire Radeon x800XT VIVO? It has Rage chip or something.

The only ATI based cards that have tuners built into them are the All-In-Wonder cards. As I said, the card you're looking at does not have a tuner.

As already posted, the card does not come with a tv tuner. A simple fix to this is to use a vcr as a tuner by plugging your tv source (cable, antenna, etc.) into the vcr and then connect the video out on the vcr to the video in on the card (the current setup I use to watch tv on my system).
