Need some help guys regarding digital camcorders

I'd like to buy a digital camcorder, do some movies, and transfer them onto DVD.

Can it be done and should I be looking for a specific type of camcorder? I don't want an expensive one or anything.
What resolution would I be creating movies at? 640x480?

I'm sure I have all the hardware required.

I find this website http://www.camcorderinfo.com/ to be good about finding information on digital camcorders and this website http://www.digitalvideoediting.com/ has good info on digital video editing.

Even though these are U.S. websites they should help I hope.

Any digital camcorder will work. The best way to transfer to your PC is through FireWire. If your PC doesn't have FireWire you would need a firewire card. Look for a camera that uses either Mini-DV or D8 tapes. Mini-DV is my preference. Good brands are Panasonic, Sony, and Cannon.
