OCing AIW cards
How much success is there in OCing AIW cards as opposed to normal vid cards? I'm looking into an AIW X800XT

AIW X800XT uses the same core as the standard X800XT, so there isn't really any difference. However, X800XT's really aren't reputed as good overclockers - I got lucky with my PE, she's a bit of a beast :P - 600/600
Anyway, why consider a X800XT when you already have a really nice card sitting inside there? If you really want the AIW capabilities, buy a lesser card, a 9600AIW for example.  fedz

because my nice card has been fickle of late. Looking to buy an ATI card. The X800XTs are bad overclockers? hmm that's a shame. i was hoping to push it to a bit above PE speeds

You will get there, the core's just notoriously bad at overclocking.
I'd stick with your 6800GT if I were you What probs you been having? fedz

i've heard a vmod will solve the core problem. just worrying because AIW cards are supposed to run hotter then normal cards? My card has been acting up and freezing in games sometimes. Dunno if it magically fixed in the 2 months i've stopped playing games on it and i dunno if this is the result of one stickk of RAM crapping out.

You should be able to get it well above PE speeds
I don't know if there's a comparison, but I'm able to push my x800Pro stable above PE speeds (I just don't do it because temps rise very quickly once I go above it) on stock cooling. With Arctic cooling, you should be able to get a decent OC out of it. As always : luck of the drawBut, as fedz stated : they are generally poor overclockers

Your X800pro also has the same core, so it should easily be able to hit XT speeds, and perhaps PE. However, X800XT's have limited potential. I suggest you solve your 6800GT probs before investing tbh

Me too. A 6800GT can get you pretty far, I wouldn't toss a 400 dollar card out of the window without exhausting every possibility of getting it to work properly again.
